Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes set an incredible NFL record during Sunday’s thrilling Super bowl 58 victory against the San Francisco 49ers.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Mahomes set the record for most Super Bowl fumble recoveries with four. Mahomes recovered his own fumble on a passing play and managed to pick up the football before throwing it away for an incomplete pass.

Lady luck was simply on the side of the Chiefs in Super Bowl 58. For starters, Kansas City fumbled five times in the big game and managed to recover four of them. On the flip side, the Chiefs recovered two 49ers fumbles and turned one of them into a game-changing touchdown in the third quarter.

Mahomes didn’t play his best in the opening half, as the Chiefs were held to just three points through 30 minutes. But the 28-year-old was completely dialed in the rest of the way, picking apart the 49ers defense with surgical-like precision to help force overtime.

After the 49ers were held to a Jake Moody field goal on the opening possession of overtime, Mahomes drove KC down the field and sealed the game with a walk-off touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman.
