In a recent interview with VladTV, DJ Yella said that he was the only member of N.W.A. to attend Eazy-E’s funeral.

“Some people probably just couldn’t take it,” he said. “I don’t know what the reasons are. We never talked about it, even to this day. That subject will never get talked about.”

Eazy-E died from AIDS-related complications in 1995, four years after the group disbanded. Yella said that they all showed up to the hospital when he was on his deathbed, albeit at different times.

Eazy-E’s son, among others, has posited theories that Eazy’s contraction of AIDs did not come about from promiscuous sexual behavior but was rather the result of foul play.

“You never know,” he said. “All we know is he died from [AIDS]. He had it, he was diagnosed with it, but we don’t know if somebody gave it to him [by] putting it in a syringe [or] whatever. We don’t know. We’ll never know. We just have to accept what it is. It’s over. It was 20 years ago.”
