A popular burger restaurant, visited by the likes of Jack Harlow and Coolio, could soon expand to California after American rapper Lil Eazy-E backed an idea to expand the eatery onto home soil.

Lil Eazy E — who is the son of late NWA rapper Eazy-E — has been in talks with the owners of Perth’s Compton Burgers for “over a year” about opening a second establishment in California’s hip-hop capital, Compton.

The restaurant, which could open as early as August, would be located on Eazy Street — a far cry from its current location on Stirling Street, Perth. Eazy Street was renamed to recognise Eazy-E, whose real name is Eric Lynn Wright.

“Me and the twins are working on a possibility of Compton Burgers coming to Compton, California,” Lil Eazy-E said.

“My dream is to have it based around my father’s street, Eazy Street, and help with proceeds to build up the community . . . and help children through my non-profit Eric Wright Family Foundation.”

Founded by Lil Eazy-E and his family in honour of his father, the Eric Wright Family Foundation helps support underprivileged youth through a number of scholarships, mentorship programs and community development projects.

If the plan comes to fruition, part of the profits from the Compton-based eatery would go towards the foundation.

Since opening in 2019, Compton Burgers — co-owned by twins Michael and Andrew Theodosiades — has had a spate of high-profile customers including Jack Harlow and hip-hop group Onyx.

Lil Eazy-E was the latest artist to be seen flipping patties when he visited Perth as part of his Straight Outta Compton tour last month.

Michael Theodosiades described the opportunity to franchise with the rapper as “pretty surreal”.

“We were talking for a while and then he hit me up one day and I said, ‘well, are you interested in franchising?’,” he said.

“We know the industry but he knows the music . . . it’s pretty surreal.

“We said (it would open) in about six months . . . we’ve got lawyers to make sure everything is legitimate.

“You’ve got to take a risk, you’ve only got one life.

“Obviously we might have to go to America and we’re going to show America how to make burgers,” he laughed.
